Thanks to everyone who collected and handed over their Tesco vouchers to the club.  I need to send them off to Tescos at the end of this week to bank them for next year.  If you still have any vouchers lurking in wallets/purses please can you give them to me on Tuesday 23rd June ,Thursday 25th June or final date Saturday 27th June.  After this date they become worthless ......

Congratulations to the twenty-four club paddlers who made the trip to the Oxford Hasler Race.  Another fine day of paddling with a few high placed paddlers, Richard GJ and Jordan Evans winning Div 7 K2 and Max Evans being promoted to Div 8.
There were some issues around the higher division race which means we will have to wait for the results to be finalised before a full report is posted.

The Southampton squad that ventured to Reading for the Hasler circuit race were bathed in glorious sunshine for a day of racing.   At present the race results have not been finalised, but as they stand at the moment, we came fifth with 196 points and joint second with the Lightnings.  This puts us within five points of qualifying for the Hasler Finals, which is quite a leap, as we were eleven points behind just over a week ago.

Congratulations to all those who competed, especially to the excellent achievements of the Under 10 and 12 Lightnings and to Tom Diaper who was promoted to Div 4.

Full results will be available from http://www.marathon-canoeing.org.uk/results/Results.html

We will need a good turn out at Oxford Sunday 21st June to ensure our chances of making the Hasler final.

We have an opportunity to observe a K1 being built on the 30/31st May in Southampton.  Times will vary as to progress but I am imagining quite long and smelly days.
If interested please contact James jhinves@talktalk.net to confirm places

Sunday saw thirty two paddlers from the club to take part in the BCCC 25th Hasler race at Basingstoke Canal Canoe Club. We were rewarded with joint third place on the day with 222 out of a maximum 240 points scored in the Hasler event and joint first in the Lightning event.   An outstanding performance from our U12s and U10s.  So congratulations to all those who travelled through the rain to compete, transport or simply support on the day.  With so many competitors I have picked out some key results, but this by no means belittle the efforts of those not mentioned.

Thursday 14 May at 1930 - Woodmill Outdoor Centre
David White (LCO) and Andy Maxted (RCO)

The evening will last no more than an hour and a half and will consist of an introduction from myself, a presentation about the new UKCC scheme with how to transfer on to it and the new moderate water endorsement, an update on how to become a provider for star and safety awards and a finish with a question and an answer session.

There is no cost for the evening with Tea and Coffee facilities will be there (PLEASE BRING YOUR OWN MUG).

It would be helpful if you think you can come please drop me a quick email hamps_lco@me.com. I will run a second one in the Basingstoke evening soon.

I am thinking about putting on a FSRT Providers course if there is enough people wanting it. It is open to any level 3 coach and above (Currently) if you are interested please reply.
